In numerous discussions at IT security events, trade fairs and workshops, I usually miss one key factor: communication in the event of an attack!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the most important asset – apart from data – in the event of an attack?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

>>> That’s right! The employee (or not?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I have no access to my data, no access to my systems, no access to my e-mails, telephone software, employee databases and the like, then I have a huge problem on my hands!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only people who can keep my production and the company alive and restore it are my employees – EVERY SINGLE ONE of them counts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are countless examples where it was essential to have access to employees. In a cumbersome way, employees tried to reach employees via privately known WhatsApp or Signal Messenger contacts and unite them in a common chat room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then they tried to build a strategy to inform customers, maintain production, become solvent to settle invoices and pay salaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This takes time and in the end the survival of the company depends on communicating with my most important asset that cannot be easily deleted with a cyber-attack. Yes, I repeat! THE EMPLOYEE<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back to my header: Communication in the event of an attack!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The simplest solution is to set up a secure messenger and data room. Independent of the internal company network. Ensure a second secure communication. In my opinion, this should be required by every cybersecurity insurance company! (my opinion and yes, I am rigorous about this)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is like a backup. I back up my data too. So perhaps it’s easier to understand when I talk about a communications backup and data room backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here in Germany, we are very lucky to have a REAL – and as I found out through my research, the only GDPR-compliant – messenger, “ginlo Business”, which was developed in Germany from “ginlo” and is operated in Germany. “ginlo Business” fulfills all the important requirements here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With “ginlo Data” I also have a secure data room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So here in Germany, there are no reasons to base my communication purely on Teams, WhatsApp or the like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
